Nestled in the mountains of northern Taiwan, Wulai is a hidden gem known for its hot springs, breathtaking waterfalls, and rich indigenous Atayal culture. “Wulai” is a derived term that means “boiling spring” in the native Atayal language. Just a short trip from Taipei, this simple yet charming town offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Whether you’re soaking in a riverside hot spring, exploring scenic hiking trails, or indulging in local delicacies along Wulai Old Street.
Wulai is just one hour from Taipei City, coming from Xindian Station. Thus, it is possible to go for a day trip to Wulai, or if you can even stay longer. In our case, my friend and I were only visiting Taiwan for 4 days (though I’ve already been to Taiwan for 11 days, and visited again for the second time for 6 days). we just decided to go on a quick tour around Wulai. Furthermore, we visited the most beautiful spring spa and resort in Wulai – Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resort.

About Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resort
Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resort is a member of the International Boutique Hotel Alliance (RELAIS & CHATEAUX) and is also the first cultural and creative art hot spring hotel in Taiwan. As mentioned above, Wulai is known for its hot springs and Volando is one of the best hot springs in Wulai.
How to get from Taipei to Wulai, Taiwan?
From Taipei Main Station, take the MRT (subway) to the last stop on the Green Line, which is Xindian Station. From Xindian Station, head outside and look for Bus 849 which will take you to Wulai. Volando Urai is 3 stops away from the last stop. If you want to head over to Wulai Old Street first, you can drop off at the last stop of the bus.

Public & Private Hot Springs
Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resorts offers public and private hot springs where you can relax and enjoy the stunning view of the nature of Wulai District. This is one of the highlights of the resort. The hot spring has an overlooking view of the sapphire-blue river surrounded by mountains.
Based on experience, we booked a private hot spring room and it was relaxing! The tranquility that the room provides is worth the cost! In our case, we were able to relax in the private hot spring for one hour while enjoying the view of nature. Moreover, the private hot spring has gotten everything you need. Towels, free drinks and snacks, amenities, slippers, and a hair dryer! Trying their hot springs is surely such a wonderful experience!
Siliq Cafe
Siliq Cafe is another hidden gem that you can visit in Wulai, Taiwan. Siliq is part of Volando Urai Spa Spring & Resort, which is just located on the second floor of the resort. If you’re looking for another picturesque place. Siliq Cafe is a must-try. After the hot spring, you can visit Siliq Cafe for an afternoon tea! They offer the best afternoon tea which is very mouthwatering!
In our experience, we totally enjoyed and loved the pastries and drinks that were all included in the afternoon set!
Hotel & Resort
Aside from visiting its public and private hot springs and its Insta-worthy cafe, you can also stay overnight in one of their rooms. Volando Urai offers accommodation with nature views! But take note, that would still depend on which kind of room you’re going to book and reserve!
Why You Should Visit Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resort

Volando Urai is one of the best places to visit in Wulai, Taiwan. It offers great scenic views and surely offers you a relaxing vibe! It doesn’t require you to stay overnight, especially if you just plan on visiting for a day. You can try their public or private baths, and their Instagrammable cafe to their best set of menu.
It’s nearby tourist attractions.
Volando Urai is near some main tourist attractions such as Wulai Old Street and The Suspension Bridge. The resort is just a few stops from each tourist attraction.
It’s affordable.
Based on experience, I must say that visiting Volando Urai wouldn’t cost you a lot. Not to mention the fact that it offers a unique experience when in Wulai, Taiwan. In addition, you can also get discounts when you book this activity via Klook!
Personally, I’ve had a wonderful experience staying at Volando Urai even if it was just for a day. I wish I could have stayed longer. It was such a nice experience and truly a relaxing one! This is one for the books. I won’t deny that this is one of my favorite activities we’ve done in Taiwan!
