How to Apply for Japan Multiple-Entry Visa for Filipinos

Posted on June 12, 2024March 3, 2025 by Ara Patria

Among all the countries I’ve been to, I can attest that Japan is undeniably one of the best countries to visit in Asia. It is understandable why every traveler considers Japan to be a must-visit country and an ideal tourist destination in Asia. Based on my personal experience, I instantly fell in love with Japan the first time I stepped foot on it. I stayed for twelve days and was able to explore different prefectures around the country!

I was able to try the best Japanese cuisine in every prefecture, visit the different famous tourist spots, and experience its unique and distinct culture for 12 days! Ever since I was a kid, Japan has always been a dream tourist destination, and this is surely one of the best travel experiences I’ve had! Not to mention the fact that I decided to visit Japan twice this year (in the winter and spring seasons). Yup, I know I have splurged so much on traveling to Japan but all I could definitely say was that it was all worth it!

With all the cultural experiences I’ve had in Japan, it led me to apply for another Japan tourist visa, and this time, I requested a multiple-entry one (since I was only granted a Japan tourist visa single-entry during my previous visits). This time, I plan on visiting Japan as many times as I can. Thus, if you’re a Filipino traveler who also wants to obtain a Japan multiple-entry visa, here’s a guide for you!

Essential Travel Guide & Tips

  • Make sure to provide a detailed itinerary of your planned trip to Japan, including flight reservations, accommodation bookings, and activities.
  • Fill out the visa application form accurately and completely. You can download the form from the Japanese embassy’s website, or you can request it from an accredited travel agency on the day of your application.
  • Prepare a passport-sized photograph (4.5 cm x 4.5 cm) with a white background for your application form; it should not be a six-month-old photo. Based on my experience, I was supposed to use the same photo that I used for my Japan tourist visa application (a single entry), and it was only two months old, but the travel agency didn’t accept it.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Japan and have at least two blank visa pages.

Is obtaining a Japan tourist visa difficult?

For Philippine passport holders, applying for a Japan visa is fairly easy. Just make sure that all the information you present to the Japanese Embassy is valid and matches every document you have submitted.

How long is the validity of a multiple-entry visa for Japan?

If you obtain a Japan multiple-entry visa, its maximum validity is 5 days, and you are eligible to stay in Japan for 30 days. Take note that this is the most ideal one for frequent tourists. Meanwhile, for cultural or intellectual figures, the maximum visa validity is 10 years and 90 days.

How much bank balance should I have for a multiple-entry tourist visa?

There is no required bank balance for the Japan visa application. But you have to take note that the usual ideal bank balance must be suitable for your intended length of stay in Japan. So, let’s say the ideal budget per day in Japan must be around PHP 10,000.

Do I need to book a flight ticket before applying for a Japanese tourist visa?

No. It’s totally not required to book a flight ticket before applying for a Japan tourist visa, but by doing this, you can reduce the cost of your flight ticket. Nevertheless, you may book a flight to Japan once your visa is approved.

How long is the process of Japan’s multiple-entry tourist visa application?

For a single-entry tourist visa in Japan or a multiple-entry tourist visa, the processing usually takes about 3–5 days, but sometimes it can take longer depending on the number of applicants or the documents you have submitted to the embassy. As previously stated, the travel agency usually informs the applicant that the visa processing typically takes 7 to 14 days.

How much is the multiple Japan tourist visa application fee?

The Japan visa application fee varies depending on which accredited travel agency you apply to. For Attic Tours, the processing fee costs Php 1,200 for a single-entry visa application. Meanwhile, if you’re requesting multiple visas, you need to provide an additional payment of PHP 500.
