It’s my first time visiting Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, but it’s my second time in Malaysia since I went to Kuala Lumpur a few years ago. Kota Kinabalu, also known as KK, is the capital of Sabah, a state in Malaysia. Located on the northwest coast of the island of Borneo, Kota Kinabalu, or KK, is a vibrant city that offers a blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern amenities.
I was supposed to visit Kota Kinabalu in 2019 with my friends, but due to COVID restrictions, it was postponed for a while. Fast forward to 2023, and it finally came true! I finally got a chance to visit Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. But this time, I am traveling solo since none of my friends are available. This was definitely another adventure for me as a solo traveler!
I stayed in Kota Kinabalu for 7 days (I was supposed to visit Brunei in between those dates) and was able to explore the city and discover how peaceful the place is, even at night! I stayed in hostels for a few days and decided to stay in a nice hotel on my last day in Kota Kinabalu. To be honest, this has been my mantra or part of my itinerary; to stay in a very comfortable hotel at least once whenever I’m traveling alone. There are a lot of options to choose from, and fortunately, I have found this super nice hotel in Kota Kinabalu named Lintas Platinum Hotel. I love how the hotel is very strategic but very affordable, even for a solo traveler like me.
