  • By Air: Fly to Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental, then travel by land to the town proper of Cagayan de Oro, then get off at the terminal bus. From the bus terminal, you can take a bus heading to Bukidnon.
  • By Land: Buses and vans from major cities like Cagayan de Oro and Davao connect to Bukidnon.

Getting Around Bukidnon

Getting around Bukidnon is easily accessible. You may take any public transportation to every destination you’re visiting. Local transportation includes habal-habal and tricycles for short distances, while vans or buses connect to nearby towns.

Essential Travel Guide & Tips

  • Bring comfortable clothing, and sturdy shoes for outdoor activities.
  • Take a camera with you.
  • Make sure to respect local customs, especially when interacting with indigenous communities; be culturally sensitive; and seek permission for photos or participation in rituals.
  • Ensure you have enough cash, as ATMs may not be readily available.
  • Better to leave as early as possible to avoid traffic and maximize your time.
  • Make sure to coordinate with the tourism office, especially when visiting Impasug-ong.

Top Places to Visit in Bukidnon

My friend and I decided to explore Bukidnon for one day. We were able to visit some of the best three places to see in the province, namely Lawis Grand Canyon, Rotypeaks, and Communal Ranch.

Lawis Grand Canyon

The Lawis Grand Canyon is located in the town of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. It is often called the “Little Grand Canyon” of the Philippines because it looks so much like the famous geological feature in the U.S. Situated in Barangay Lunocan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, the Lawis Grand Canyon offers mesmerizing steep hills in between which you can see the Tagoloan River.

I’d have to say that this is one of the most underrated places to visit in Bukidnon.

How to go to the Lawis Grand Canyon?

  1. From CDO, take public transportation to the Agora Terminal.
  2. Then, take a bus bound for Davao City and tell the bus conductor to drop you off at Lunocan, Manolo Fortich, or Lunocan Elementary School.
  3. Once you get off the bus, cross the road, and you’ll see a habal-habal terminal beside the waiting shed. Just inform the habal-habal driver that you’re going to the Lawis Grand Canyon. It takes around 25–30 minutes to get to the destination.

RotyPeaks Ridge Camp

This was our second stop after visiting the Lawis Grand Canyon. Located in the town of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, RotyPeaks Ridge Camp is a famous tourist spot that offers a view of lush, green mountains and beautiful scenery that will definitely take your breath away.

This is one of the most ideal places to go camping in Bukidnon!

How to go to Rotypeaks, Bukidnon?

  1. From Manila, take a flight to Cagayan de Oro (CDO) via Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, or Air Asia. CDO is the gateway to Bukidnon Province.
  2. Then, from Laguindingan Airport, take a van heading to the Agora terminal.
  3. From Agora terminal, ride a bus bound for Davao City, and just tell the bus conductor to drop you off at the municipality of Impasug-ong. The ride will take you approximately 2 to 3 hours.
  4. Drop off at the Impasug-ong tourism office, which is just at the back of the giant Lumad statues. Take note that you need to drop by the tourism office before heading.

If you’re coming from Manolo Fortrich, from the Lawis Grand Canyon, just tell the habal-habal driver to drop you off at the main highway and wait for the bus, heading to Davao. Then, get off at the municipality of Impasug-ong.

Communal Ranch, Bukidnon

Known as the “Cinema Capital of Impasug-ong”, the Communal Ranch is the only ranch in the Philippines that is owned by the government. It has beautiful mountain ranges, fields, and a man-made pond, making it one of the most beautiful sights you’ve probably ever seen.

How to go to Communal Ranch?

  1. From CDO, take public transportation to the Agora Terminal.
  2. Then, take a bus bound for Davao City, and just tell the bus conductor to drop you off at the municipality of Impasugong. The ride takes you about 2–3 hours.
  3. Once you get off the bus, you’ll probably notice the sculpture of the giant statues of the Lumads of Bukidnon.
  4. Then, head over to the tourism office, which is just at the back of the giant statues. Take note that you need to drop by the tourism office before heading to the Communal Ranch.

If you plan on visiting both RotyPeaks Ridge and Communal Ranch, you can coordinate with the Impasug-ong Tourism Office one week before the visitation. You can reach them through their official Facebook page “Impasug-ong Tourism“, or via their phone number, 09656735658.

Visit Bukidnon, Northern Mindanao Today!

This is my second time visiting Bukidnon Province and I’d have to say that this is surely one of the best places to visit in Mindanao. I know that spending a day, or exploring Bukidnon for a day is not enough to see the beauty that it offers! If you just love being in nature, you will definitely love this province.

Have you ever been to Bukidnon? Hope this Bukidnon travel guide helps!
